Educates and inspires EV drivers through their electrification journey.

Scope

(Contract through Bros&Co)

bp pulse is the fastest growing EV charging network in the UK and with electrification being the future of mobility, drivers need support along the journey. The vision for the pulse website was to not only be a useful resource for pulse customers but an educational platform for people new or transitioning to EV.

Website goals
+ Become a knowledge hub for EV drivers
+ Provide transparent costs and fees
+ Inspire potential EV drivers to ‘go electric’
+ Make EV simple
+ Engage corporate and business markets

Process

Component audit

In order to simplify the website from both a user and a content editors perspective we needed to streamline the components within the CMS. This involved running a full audit and analysis of every component and tidying up the design and code. This was an extensive exercise.

+ Component audit
+ Review and tidy the design and code

Process

Information architecture

As the website was being increasingly content rich research was done to establish whether a mega menu was required based on a new page structure. This involved numerous stakeholder sessions and card sorting exercises to establish a simple and clear architecture.

+ Card sorting
+ Stakeholder workshops
+ Content and page structure
+ Mega menu prototype

My learnings and observations

“As the lead product designer of the marketing website I sat between many different squads and used my position to break down the silos to ensure that the product was utilised and optimised for both B2C and B2B teams.”

Key results

Increased engagement

The new component library and mega menu navigation has contributed to an upturn in retained traffic on the site.

Increased usage by content editors

A simpler and more streamlined component library has also increased the amount of content contribution from editors and marketing staff.

Increased confidence

CSAT scores have improved since the website design and development improvements.

“As a content editor it is a lot more user friendly and I am now able to work much more efficiently and effectively with very few issues.”
