Openreach
A platform that
Gives local communities and Openreach engineers the ability to build the case for local broadband infrastructure initiatives.
Scope
UX / UI, Product Design, User Research, Stakeholder management
Problem statement
In order to reach their target of getting fibre broadband to 3.2 million homes across the UK by the mid 2020’s Openreach needed to create a way that local communities could get together to establish the need for broadband infrastructure to be installed in their community and at the same time for engineers to be able to see what leads had gathered enough interest.
User needs
The entire journey from establishing the ability to receive fibre broadband or not, to registering interest and building a community case. If unsuccessful through the broadband check, community users were invited to enter the portal to input names and addresses of interested households, add their postcodes to the map and put forward a request for installation. Engineer users and PM’s needed to be able to see leads that had established enough interest in order for the installation projects to be formalised.
